Pet Portraits

Caroline Funk & Vera

I gain my energy through being creative. I don’t set out to produce art about one subject or another. From portraits or a borrower of simple imagery to memorialize a moment in time, to just a goofy look my dogs give me.

I have always set out to make my life a creative source. I have studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the International School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture in Umbria, Italy. I also attended the Studio Make-Up Academy in Hollywood. Inspired to thrust my thinking in new directions with creativity in special effects make-up. It is never-ending, opening my mind up to many media.

Currently in my thirties, I enjoy life in the desert, where I was born and raised. I make a living as a sign artist for a major grocery chain, which gives me the ability to use my imagination daily. Acrylics are my current medium of choice. I am inspired by things that most people don’t always notice. The freedom to paint an idea or a dream is something I will never take for granted.

It’s real simple for me. Painting is my livelihood, my love, my everything. There are many things in this world that can be unpleasant, but painting makes life a little lighter and happier.
