Dec 4 2010
The 1st Annual Holiday Wreath Event for the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City on December 2nd was a massive success, raising over $3,200 for the Club.
Over 80 beautiful wreaths were donated by local artists, companies, police & fire associations, and many individuals – wreaths were still arriving with guests! Alongside more “traditional” wreaths were ones made from peacock feathers, balloons, an oil painting of a wreath, Starbucks coffee bags, and even a delicious cake! Many of the wreaths came with generous extras including gift certificates, golf outings at local premiere courses, and cupcake parties.
The wreaths were sold in a live auction, a silent auction, and bids were taken online before the event.
Young volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club helped show off the wreaths to the guests, while guest auctioneer Harry Stone reminded bidders of Cathedral City’s obscure “regulation” requiring five wreaths per household…
Bidders were very impressed by the quality of the wreaths, and bid generously. The most popular wreath of the evening was K Stenlund’s “Happy Howlidays”, which created a friendly bidding war before finally being sold for $200!
A VIP reception was held alongside the event at the IncredibleArtist.com Gallery. Attendees included Cathedral City mayor Kathleen de Rosa, council members, artists and Boy & Girls Club board members.
Missed the Auction?
If you missed the auction, you can still help the Boys & Girls Club by buying a wreath! Some wonderful wreaths didn’t get sold, so they can be purchased from IncredibleArtist.com Gallery, Starbucks Coffee (Monterey & Country Club), and (shortly) online! These wreaths are just $45 each and all of the proceeds goes to the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City.
